May 23, 2012

Three Tompkins Cortland Community College baseball players have been named to the Mid-State Athletic Conference all-conference baseball team. Sophomores Joey Flores (Dewitt Clinton H.S./Bronx) and Tim Smith (Auburn H.S./Auburn) were repeat selections while classmate Kris Catino (Auburn H.S./Auburn) joined the team this year. Voting for the 15-member team was done by the coaches from the six conference teams.

Flores was the most versatile player on the team, playing center field, catcher, and pitcher. He led the team with a fielding percentage of .990 and was fourth with a .318 batting average. His 24 RBI and nine doubles led the team. On the mound Flores posted a mark of 4-2 with an ERA of 4.50.

Smith split time between third base and the pitcher's mound. At the plate he hit .353, third best on the team. He had team-bests of .445 and drove in 23 runs. As a pitcher, Smith went 2-5 with an ERA of 4.39.

Catino led the team with a .371 batting average while hitting leadoff and playing left field. He was first on the team with 19 stolen bases in 21 attempts.
