Washington Repeats as All-MSAC Selection

February 28, 2018

Tompkins Cortland Community College sophomore Jaida Washington (Elmira/Elmira H.S.) is the first player in the history of Panthers women’s basketball to become a two-time all-conference selection. Washington was named to the Mid-State Athletic Conference women’s basketball all-conference team for 2017-18, matching her freshman year accomplishment. Voting for the award is done by the coaches from the seven MSAC programs. Ten players were named to the team.

Washington had a season like no other in the history of the Panthers. She averaged 16.2 points, 13.8 rebounds, 6.2 blocks, 1.9 steals, and 1.2 assists per game. In 26 games, she had 13 double-doubles and 4 triple-doubles. She scored 20 or more points in nine games, had 20 or more rebounds four times, and blocked 10 or more shots five times. She set school records for season and career rebounds and single-game, season, and career blocked shots, and finished the year third on the school’s season scoring list and fourth on the career list.

While Washington is the first repeat selection in program history, this year marks the fourth consecutive season Tompkins Cortland has had a player named all-conference. Washington is the 14th different player to have earned all-MSAC honors in the 18-year history of women’s basketball at Tompkins Cortland.
