Martha Hubbard Named President of Statewide Organization

November 25, 2014

Martha Hubbard has been elected president of the Continuing Education Association of New York (CEANY) by the more than 500 members of the statewide organization. CEANY is an organization that represents public higher education across the state, including both SUNY and CUNY two and four-year institutions, and advocates for postsecondary adult learners. Hubbard was elected to a one-year term as president at the November general meeting. She has previously served two years as vice president and more than 10 years on the executive board.

Hubbard is the Director of Strategic Corporate and Community Partnerships for Tompkins Cortland Community College. She says her involvement with CEANY is valuable to her job at Tompkins Cortland, largely in terms of developing training programs for businesses, industries, and organizations. “It provides a great opportunity to network with colleagues across the state and learn about the various programs they have underway,” said Hubbard. “The network you develop is indispensable when it comes to finding quality instructors, developing grant opportunities, and maximizing partnerships.”

Hubbard has worked in business development and workplace training during her nearly two decades at the College, but her recent promotion to her current title makes her the primary link between the College and local employers. She oversees Biz, which provided training to more than 3,500 people through 200 customized training programs at various organizations last year. She works with many of those organizations to secure grant funding for the training, and also is the College’s point person for START-UP NY and REV Ithaca Startup Works.
